Fall 2012 – NBC New Shows – Scared to Hope

19 May

NBC has let me down so many times before (The Event, Alcatraz, The Firm, Harry’s Law).  I’m REALLY pissed about the last three.  You didn’t even put Harry’s Law on NBC on Demand or Hulu!  Idiots!  Anyway, I’m really scared to get into any of their shows because they’re such a cocktease.  They get you all hot and happy about a show, then they screw you over by cancelling it, moving it against something that has been in its top spot for YEARS, giving it a hiatus then coming back with big WTFs by changing the formats and all the other stuff.  And to think there was a time when NBC battled ABC for top spot.  Now its ABC vs. CBS.  NBC is what CBS used to be.   I mean there as a time when if you told me something was on CBS I automatically tuned out because I knew it sucked.  Sorry for the rant.

So, it boils down to 12 shows.  Four hates, four neutrals and four likes.  And, even the ones I really like, I’m just waiting for NBC to go “Hey Stupid, we got you again!  We’re going to ruin it because that’s how we roll!”

1600 Penn – A comedy about the President and his family.  Eh.  Starring Bill Pullman and Jenna Elfman.  Mid season replacement.  Hmm

Animal Practice – A vet who loves animals and hates the owners.  Um.  No.  Really.  No.  Only good thing is it stars Justin Kirk (Andy from Weeds).  Wednesdays, 8 p.m.  BLEH

Chicago Fire – Well, I guess we have our fair share of doctors, cops and lawyers.  So why not the fire department?  Don’t have a feeling one way or the other on this.  Eammon Walker (Oz) stars in it.  Wednesdays, 10 p.m. Hmm

Do No Harm – A neurosurgeon with an evil alter-ego finds out that the superduper serum that keeps his evil side hidden isn’t working anymore.  With Phylicia Rashad. Winter 2013 mid season replacement –  Yay

Go On – Matthew Perry stars as a widowed sportcaster who goes to therapy. Ho hummmmmmmm, meh.  Doesn’t sound funny at all.  Tuesdays, 9 p.m. BLEH

Anthony Anderson, Los Angeles, CA on May 22, 2...

Guys with Kids – Three fathers with children.  I was kinda ehh on this one, until I realized it had Anthony Anderson, Vanessa Bledsoe, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.  Wednesdays, 8:30 p.m. Yay (First Pick)

Hannibal – Books/movies brought to television.  FBI criminal profiler (male) works with Hannibal Lecter.  This should be interesting.  It was great as movies, but can they keep it interesting every week?  I like the idea.  Here’s hoping they don’t screw it up.  Mid season 2013.  Yay

Infamous – Meagan Good returns to her hometown to investigate the murder of her childhood BFF.  Also starring Victor Garber.  I like, I’ll watch.  And, I’ll probably watch it get cancelled.  Mid season replacement Yay

Next Caller – Male DJ hates the idea of having a female co-host.  Yuk Yuk, that’s so funny.  NOT!  The only plus is Jeffrey Tambor is in it.  Mid season replacement BLEH

The New Normal – Woman becomes a surrogate for a gay couple.  Two gay guys, surrogate, surrogate’s daughter and grandmother.  All one big happy family?  Stars Ellen Barkin as the grandmother.  I’ll give it a chance  Tuesdays, 9: 30 p.m. Hmm

Revolution – Fifteen years after a world-wide blackout, a world tries to revive.  Giancarlo Esposito is in this!  Yummy!  I could watch it just for him.   Monday’s 10 p.m. Hmm

Save Me – Anne Heche almost dies, hears God and believes He wants her to communicate to everyone else.  I don’t care if Lamann Rucker is in it.  Just.  NO.    Mid season replacement – BLEH

Fall 2012 – CW New Shoes – Huge Fail

19 May

After checking out the new shows from the Fall 2012 season, I’m left with a big pffft for the CW.  After cancelling two of my shows (Ringer and Secret Circle), only one show from this group even remotely interests me.  AND it doesn’t premiere until January!  I still have my 90210, Vampire Diaries and Nikita.

Arrow – I guess Superman’s Smallville did so well, they’re trying again with The Green Arrow.   Katie Cassidy from Harper’s Island will be in it.  I liked Harper’s Island.  But, not enough to do the superhero thing.  Wednesdays, 8 pm.  BLEH

Beauty and the Beast – Haven’t we done this one before?  Thursdays, 9 pm.  BLEH

The Carrie Diaries

The Carrie Diaries – Carrie Bradshaw growing up in the 80s.  Besides that being my era, I loved Sex and the City.  So I’ll be watching.  Of course, if I get hooked on it like Ringer and Secret Circle, it will get cancelled.   Monday’s, 9 pm.  January mid-season replacement YAY (First Pick)

Cult – A production assistant and a blogger go about investigating disappearances and possibly a murder.  They think psycho fans of the show are responsible.  January mid-season replacement  BLEH

Emily Owens, M.D or First Cut – Zap 2 IT calls it Emily Owens, MD and TV Guide calls it First Cut.  Geeky girl graduates and becomes a doctor, only to find that the bitchiness and cattiness is just like in high school.  Stars Merrill Streep’s daughter, Mamie Gummer.  Tuesdays 9 pm.  BLEH

Fall 2012 – FOX New Shows – Pass

19 May

Five shows and I’m really looking foward to two of them.  Other three I’m neutral.  Neutral means I don’t love or hate the show, and I may or may not give it a chance.

Ben and Kate – Guy moves in with his sister and becomes his niece’s nanny.  Gets her back into the dating scene.  Meh.  Tuesdays, 8:30 p.m., Will give it a Hmm

Kevin Bacon.

The Following – Kevin Bacon plays a cop who comes out of retirement when a copycat killer emerges from an 8 year old arrest.  Midseason replacement  Yay  (First Pick)

The Goodwin Games –  Rich Daddy kicks the bucket and leaves specific terms to his three kids in order to receive their booty.  Mid season replacement – Hmm

The Mindy Project – Female OB/GYN wants love.  Gets laughs.  Whatever.  Tuesdays, 9:30 p.m.  Hmm

The Mob Doctor – A female doctor is stuck between being respectable and the mob.  Me likey.  I can’t help it, I love mob stuff.  Mondays, 9 p.m. Yay

Fall 2012 – ABC New Shows – Pass

19 May

ABC has a lot of new shows!  Not bad.  Out of 10 shows, I don’t like two and am neutral on three.  Out of the five I really like, one starts in November, three are January, and one is either Summer 2013 or earlier (tease).

Vanessa Williams at pre-opening of Otarian NYC

666 Park Avenue – Resident of a building have sold their souls to the Devil to get what they want.  Vanessa Williams and Terry O’Quinn (Lost and Hawaii Five 0) star, along with Dave Annabelle (Brothers and Sisters).  Sundays, 10 p.m. Yay  (#1 pick)

Family Tools – J.K. Simmons (Spiderman, OZ, Law & Order) has a heart attack and his flucked up son comes in to take over the hardware business.  Leah Remini is married to him.  Well, hopefully this will get him off of those stupid insurance commercials.  It was funny at first, but I wanted him to do something else.  So, this is good.  I’ll definitely be looking at it.  I like both him and Leah.  January mid season replacement Tuesdays, 8:30 p.m. Yay

How to Live With Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life – Way too long a title!  It stars Sara Chalke (fake Becky – Rosanne, or Scrubs if you insist) as the daughter of Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds) and Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond).  She moves in with her crazy parents after her divorce.  Also starring Orlando Jones (7 up guy).  I like them all!  And, Ron Howard produces it!  So, most definitely a Yay  (January mid season replacement,  Tuesdays 8:00 p.m.)

Last Resort –  After refusing to fire nuclear missiles, a submarine crew hides out at a NATO base and dub themselves the world’s smallest nuclear nation.  Starring Andre Braugher (Men of a Certain Age).  Thursdays, 8 p.m.  I think it could be good, but I just have no interest in submarines and nukes.  So, since I’ll give it a Hmm

Malibu Country – Reba McEntire moves from  moves to Malibu after she finds out her husband is cheating.  Tries to get back into music and keep the kids squeaky clean.  I might give this a chance because of Reba and Lily Tomlin.  Starting November, Fridays, 8:30 p.m.  Hmm

Mistresses – Four women doing the life, sex and relationship thing.  Starring Alyssa Milano and Yunjin Kim (Lost).  Also starring Jason George (who is currently on Grey’s Anatomy as Amanda’s fiance.  They claim he’s going to California and the two of them will have a long-distance relationship.  She made him promise everything would be ok!)  Houston, we have a problem!  Since this is going to be a Summer 2013 show, or possibly a mid-season replacement, the sexy Jason George could possibly be doing both Mandy and Alyssa.  They are both ABC shows.  And, maybe it’s just a fling with Alyssa until he goes back to Grey’s.  But, end game I want him with the Nazi!  Yay

Nashville – Starring Connie Britton (American Horror Story.. dammit, I was hoping to see you back on that in ghost form) and Hayden Panettiere.      Also starring Jonathan Jackson (my Lucky from General Hospital) and Powers Boothe.  Connie & Hayden are musicians.  Connie being established, and Hayden is up and coming.  While country music really isn’t my thing,  I might dvr this just to see what it’s about.   Wednesdays, 10 p.m.   Hmm

The Neighbors – A family moves to suburban New Jersey and finds out all of their neighbors are from outer space.  REALLY WTF?  This is coming on Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m.  Meanwhile all the other shows I really want to see are mid-season replacements.  Definite FAIL ABC!   BLEH

Red Widow (or Penoza)- After her mobbed-up husband is murdered, a woman starts doing his job in order to find out what really happened.  Lee Tergeson (Oz and Army Wives) and Suleka Matthew (HawthoRNe) are a part of this show.  I love mob shows, so I’ll be looking at this.  Midseason replacement.  Yay

Zero Hour – After his wife is abducted, the husband finds a treasure map which could lead him to her if he can find the clues.  GMAFB.  Midseason replacement BLEH

I need to note here that there is an untitled show starring Mary McCormack from In Plain Sight.  A high-powered exec finds herself out of work doing the mom thing to her two teenagers.  I like Mary and I like the idea.  So, make it happen ABC.

Fall 2012 – CBS New Shows – Pass

19 May

CBS doesn’t have a huge number of new shows.  While I’m not jumping at the bit for any of these shows, I don’t hate any of them.  Depending on what’s on, I might dvr.

Elementary – Sherlock Holmes starring Lucy Liu as the Watson character, who is also a recovering addict.  Aidan Quinn is also on it.  Thursdays, 10 p.m.

Made in Jersey – A “regular” Jersey girl in law school versus the upper crust law students.  Fridays, 9 p.m.

Partners  – When a guy gets engaged, his best friend freaks out while trying to be supportive.  Mondays, 8:30 p.m.

Actor Michael Chiklis

Vegas – I’m going to say “based on a true story” of Ralph Lamb.  Cowboy, who becomes Sheriff of Vegas back in the 60s.  As Vegas is becoming what is now Sin City, he tries to get it under control.  Starring Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis.   The last show I liked with Michael Chiklis was No Ordinary Family.  Thursdays, 10 p.m.  (First pick)
